this is the only thing i’ll say bc i’m trying to keep a relatively neutral/positive space here (regardless of my own feelings) but i think the thing that digs at me is this idea that like. dream is the internets favorite punching bag, that’s how it’s been for a while, that’s the Bit at this point. when shit comes up he’s kinda infamous for the twtlongers and the longwinded responses because, sometimes, you need a lot of words to be able to express your point in the way that you want. and i think some of the shit that comes dreams way from stuff like tommys video or karl throwing dreams music in the trash isn’t necessarily malicious, but it’s really, really poor taste and really, really insensitive. and i think if dream wasn’t generally a punching bag, these jokes wouldn’t fly at ALL, but because he has a lot of people who hate him, ccs who profit off using him as such get positive reinforcement from the anti crowd, and therefore think this kind of “humor” (bc it’s not funny) is something acceptable and sustainable.

it’s kind of like when you’re ribbing your friends, and you make a joke that hits a sensitive topic. yeah, jokes up until that point were fine. past that point, they’re a no-go. and that’s something you can pretty easily resolve on an interpersonal level, but when we’re talking about millions of people and actual dangerous scenarios, it’s harder. there’s a hard line that you need to think about first, and it’s clear that some people aren’t aware of it, or they don’t care. and when your job is Being Funny With Your Public Persona, you kind of need to know where those lines are BEFORE you commit to the joke. idk i don’t think tommys a Terrible Fucking Person for joking like this, i think he’s being dumb, doesn’t know that there’s a line for these kinds of jokes (that’s drawn when the subject of the joke is someone being in physical danger), and posted some bad-faith takes. just kinda disappointed in him.
